Brooklyn Nine-Nine star dies at age 61
<p>Two-time Emmy award-winning actor Andre Braugher has passed away at the age of 61. </p>
<p>The <em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine</em> actor died on Monday, with his publicist confirming the devastating news in a statement to <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/andre-braugher-dead-brooklyn-nine-nine-1235835771/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a>. </p>
<p>The statement confirmed that Braugher passed away after a battle with a short illness. </p>
<p>Braugher was best known for his role as the loveable, hilarious and stern Captain Holt in the sitcom <em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine</em>, which he starred in for the show's eight seasons. </p>
<p>During his time on the show, he won two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and received four Emmy Award nominations.</p>
<p>Shortly after news broke of Braugher’s death, his <em>Brooklyn Nine-Nine</em> co-stars began sharing emotional tributes to the actor. </p>
<p>Terry Crews, who played Braugher’s character’s second-in-command Sergeant Terry Jeffords, wrote on Instagram of his disbelief that his co-star was gone “so soon.”</p>

<p>Meanwhile, comedian Marc Evan Jackson - who played his on-screen husband, Kevin Cozner - shared a sweet portrait of the actor, writing simply: “O Captain. My Captain.”</p>

<p>Throughout his extensive career, Braugher also starred in <em>Men of a Certain Age</em>, <em>The Good Fight</em>, and most recently, drama film <em>She Said</em> alongside Carey Mulligan.</p>
<p>He won an Emmy for his portrayal of Detective Frank Pembleton in <em>Homicide: Life on the Street</em>, as well as his role as Nick Atwater in the miniseries <em>Thief</em>.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, actress Ami Brabson, along with sons Michael, Isiah and John.</p>
